Tricia Velthuizen - Professional Biography

Tricia Velthuizen is the Creative Director of Train to Succeed. Tricia is a barrister, with over 10 years experience in the legal profession in Queensland. Specialising in criminal law, and as an appointed Crown Prosecutor, Tricia appeared on many criminal matters, working alongside police in preparing and presenting cases before the courts. Tricia specialised in the areas of child abuse and neglect. Tricia is a skilled advocate and an entertaining and challenging speaker. Tricia was awarded a Churchill Fellowship by the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust in 2002 and travelled throughout the USA and Canada studying programs that help child witnesses cope effectively with the pressures of the witness box in criminal trials. In 2005, Tricia decided it was time that a national child protection conference was held in Child Protection Week. In 2006, Tricia chaired the inaugural Protecting Children Today Conference and saw her passion translated into a reality as hundreds of child protection professionals came together from across the nation. In 2007, Tricia brought together a group of Brisbane business women to launch the Pink & Bling Girls Night In Cancer Fundraiser.
