Randall Smith - Professional Biography
Randall Smith

Randall Smith has a reputation as an outstanding communicator, able to relate to and draw the best out of people from all walks of life. These are skills Randall developed and refined during his 16 years as a police officer with the Queensland Police Service. Being able to speak to people in all circumstances was vital as Randall investigated serious criminal offences.

In 2002, reflecting his commitment to excellence, Randall was awarded a prestigious Churchill Fellowship by the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust that enabled him to travel throughout Canada and the USA studying police investigations of clandestine drug laboratories. Randall has successfully completed the Drug Enforcement Administration clandestine laboratory investigation course in USA. His field experience in this specialist area of drug investigation is vast, extending throughout Australia, the USA and Canada. In 2002, Randall established Train to Succeed as a specialist training provider in investigations.

In 2005, after 16 years service in the police service, Randall retired from the Queensland Police Service. Randall found himself highly skilled but without a piece of paper recognised outside of the police service to prove those skills. So, Randall set off to obtain business management qualifications through the RPL process. With a qualification in training and assessing, Randall was surprised to find how time consuming, complicating and frustrating the RPL application process could be. In 2006, Randall subsequently established Train to Succeed as a specialist RPL provider. Since then, Train to Succeed has delivered its Simple Skills Recognition Solution (RPL) to clients nationally and internationally, issuing in excess of 600 qualifications. It also delivers live training to public and private sector clients, as well as distance and online education.
